Labour inspectors from Spain and France met on Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Spanish Government Delegation in Aragon to evaluate joint inspections in border regions and labour mobility, as well as to plan inspections and other joint actions throughout 2025. In particular, the steering committee of the Labour and Social Security Inspectorates (ITSS and DRETS/URSSAF) and the Spanish and French Inspectorates of the border regions (Occitania, Nouvelle Aquitaine, Aragon, Catalonia, Navarre and the Basque Country) participate in this meeting.
The delegate of the Government of Spain in Aragon, Fernando Beltrán, opened today and explained that this is a follow-up meeting of an agreement signed in 2019 between Spain and France to improve work inspections on both sides of the border. The meeting also serves to exchange information on research affecting the two countries. The general director of the State Agency of the Labour and Social Security Inspectorate (OIETSS), Cristina Fernández González, has indicated that one of the topics discussed is how to obtain information about the work accidents suffered by Spaniards in France or vice versa. For his part, the territorial director of the Inspectorate of Labour and Social Security of Aragon, Román García Oliver, has pointed out that Spain is mainly a station of workers to France and that an effort is being made to ensure that these people develop their profession with the legal conditions that correspond to them in France and that their social security rights are respected in Spain.
