Aragonese exports represent, according to data for the month of September, 1,660.4 million euros, which implies a growth of 10.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, and an increase of 49.8% compared to the month of August. The report, prepared by the Territorial Directorate of Trade-ICEX in Aragon of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, with data provided by the Customs Department of the AEAT, also shows that total imports amount to 1,498.4 million euros, amounting to 9.9% compared to the previous year and 30.7% intermonthly.
Thus, in this period, the commercial balance recorded a surplus of 162 million euros and the coverage rate stood at 110.8%. Aragonese exports accounted for 5.4% of total Spanish exports in the month of September 2023.
The main sectors that contributed to the growth of exports in Aragon came from the automotive sector and the food, beverages and tobacco sector. The sectors that contributed most negatively were consumer manufacturing, durable consumer goods, non-chemical semi-manufactures and chemicals. In terms of imports, the sectors that contributed positively were mainly the automobile sector, capital goods and other goods. The largest negative contributions were from the sectors of consumer manufacturing, chemicals, food, beverages and tobacco and raw materials.
The European Union remains the main destination for Aragonese exports, accounting for 73% of the total, increasing by 27.1% compared to the previous year. Of the main partners, the increases in sales to Germany (62.8%), France (26.4%), Italy (15.5%) and Portugal (4.1%) stand out. In the rest of Europe, sales to Turkey increased by 68.8% and sales to the United Kingdom increased by 14.2%. Exports to third countries account for 27% of the total, decreasing to all regions. By country, the increases to Peru (31.6%), Morocco (26.3%) and Indonesia (3.4%) stand out positively, and negatively Algeria (-99.3%), Argentina (-77.3%) or India (-75.8%) among others.

Aragonese exports in the period January-September 2023 reached 13,051.4 million euros (5.5% increase compared to the same period of the previous year). Imports reach 13,975.7 million euros with an increase of 29%. As a result, the commercial balance in this period has a deficit of 924.3 million euros. The coverage rate stands at 93.4%. The export activity of Aragon represents 4.5% of the total domestic sales abroad.
The main export sectors in the period January-September 2023 with the greatest positive contribution have been the automotive, food, beverages and tobacco sector, capital goods and capital goods. The negative contributions came from the non-chemical semi-invoice sector, consumer manufactures, chemicals and durable consumer goods. The main importing sectors by positive contribution were automotive and capital goods sectors. The European Union remains the main destination for Aragonese exports, accounting for 71% of the total in the January-September period, increasing by 17.1% compared to the previous year. Of the main partners, the cumulative increases to Italy (35.3%), Germany (14.4%), France (13.4%) and Portugal (6.5%) stand out. In the rest of Europe, sales to Turkey increased by 70.2% and sales to the United Kingdom decreased by 11.5%. Exports to third countries accounted for 29%, although they fell by 15.2% year-on-year, highlighting the decline in sales to all regions. By country, the increases to Taiwan (85.2%), Morocco (21.8%) or Australia (8.6%) among others can be highlighted in this period.
