The Local Security Board of Zaragoza has met this morning to advance the work plan for the next festivities of the Pilar. The delegate of the Government in Aragon, Fernando Beltrán, has presided over the table, which has been co-chaired by the mayor of Zaragoza, Natalia Chueca, and in which the subdelegate of the Government in Zaragoza, Jorge Pastor, and representatives of the National Police, the Civil Guard, the Local Police, the Seconded Police and the Government of Aragon, among others, have participated.
Fernando Beltrán has highlighted the close collaboration that exists between the National Police, Civil Guard, Seconded Police and Local Police that, as mentioned in the Board, “work practically as a single body” to guarantee security during these holidays. Its presence is constant at all points of high influx, and there are specific devices for areas such as the Zity Space, the Plaza del Pilar or the tram, especially at night.
Beltrán has explained that there is a “total availability of templates for this Fiestas del Pilar 2023”. The National Police has one hundred percent of the troops and as a reinforcement - as the delegate has detailed -, "three units of the Police Intervention Unit will arrive in the city of Zaragoza, from different parts of the country. The National Police will also deploy its drone unit, the helicopter, the subsoil units and all the usual equipment during these festivities.” On the part of the Civil Guard, one hundred percent of the troops are also available in the areas of its demarcation.
There will also be a force coordination center, “so that any incident or event that happens in the city will be attended to and all requests for support and reinforcements will arrive with a final objective: to maintain and preserve security,” said Beltrán.
The device will continue to focus especially on strengthening surveillance in the Plaza del Pilar, in the adjacent areas, leisure areas and hot spots where a greater influx can occur such as the banks and parks of Zaragoza.
On this occasion, in addition, it has been agreed in the Board to launch a security campaign and alert to the important wave of mobile phone theft that has been detected in the last festive events that have been held in Aragón.
The institutions have also made an appeal to the citizens to enjoy these festivities, but do so with tranquility and respect.
