The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, today stressed that Expoliva is the world reference fair for olive oil, the great moment of this emblematic product of Spanish agriculture, at the presentation of the 21st edition of this international fair, which this year celebrates its 40th anniversary, celebrated in the ministry. Expoliva 2023, the XXI International Fair of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Related Industries, will be held between 10 and 13 May in Jaén.
The presentation ceremony was also attended by the president of the Provincial Council of Jaén, Francisco Reyes, and was attended by the ambassador of Tunisia in Spain, Fatma Omrani, the first country chosen as a guest for this fair.
The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, Luis Planas, has stressed that Spain has a strong leadership in the production, marketing and export of olive oil that it must exercise with pride and responsibility to lead the sector towards excellence.
In his speech, the minister highlighted the opportunities offered to the olive sector by the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP), which among other measures beneficial for an associated aid for the traditional olive grove with greater difficulties of profitability. Expoliva, a biennial fair that this year celebrates its 40th anniversary, is scheduled to participate by some 300 exhibitors, among which 32 international companies from 10 countries are focused.
This fair is configured as a reference meeting in which professionals can learn about the main innovations of the sector and exchange experiences around technical and scientific, environmental, cultural, nutritional or quality issues.
