The delegate of the Government of Spain in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, has participated today in Puerto Lope, a nucleus of population belonging to the Granada municipality of Moclín, in the events to celebrate March 8, International Women’s Day, a day in which “we must celebrate the steps taken by this Government to defend and protect equality and the rights of women and, at the same time, “reclaim all that remains for us to do to achieve real and effective equality between men and women”.
For Fernández, “today we have come this far thanks to the courage and bravery of all the women who were pioneers in the feminist struggle and who opened the way for equality that we are now going through”, advances that, as he has indicated, “the socialist governments in Spain have materialized in laws throughout their years at the head of the Executive”.
However, he has warned that currently “there are many threats that equality faces” and for this reason he has advocated that “between everyone and everyone, each from our sphere of action, we stand firm and do not allow a single step backwards in equality”.
