Renfe has put into service the new lifting equipment of the San Fernando Bahia Sur station, in the Closeness Centre of Cadiz. The completed works, with an investment of 1.5 million euros, guarantee accessibility and substantially improve the transit of passengers in the facilities, which take on special importance when dealing with a station located at different heights, at different levels for the client of both the roads and the street.
This refurbishment has been presented today by the director of High-Speed Business Area and other Commercial Services of Renfe, Francisco Arteaga; the delegate of the Government in Andalusia, Pedro Fernández, and the mayor of San Fernando, Patricia Cavada, among other authorities.
The work, begun in May last year, has aimed to substantially improve the access systems to the station of San Fernando Bahia Sur that were very deteriorated both by the use and by the inclemencies of time.
The recently completed tasks have consisted in the replacement of the two elevators and the two escalators for access from the street. In addition, the placement of a new roof deck covering the entire installation has been carried out and side glass protectors have been installed on both stairs. All this provides greater comfort to travelers at the accesses while providing greater protection to facilities against the harsh weather.
The work for the installation of these new accesses was started in May last year by the company TK Elevadores España S.L. And they have had an investment of 1,507,097 euros (1.8 million including taxes) and an execution period of eight months. The contract signed at the time also includes the comprehensive maintenance of the new lifting systems by the company TK Elevadores Spain, for a period of five years, including preventive, corrective and periodic inspections.
