The Secretary of State for Territorial Policy, Alfredo González, stressed that “the Government is aware of the difficulties today in access to housing, particularly young people when it comes to emancipation, with obstacles hitherto insurmountable arising from a housing market with high prices, in turn as a result of growing demographic trends towards urban concentration.”
The Government is committed to finding solutions together with the municipalities, he explained, to make the right to housing effective and promote energy rehabilitation, efficiency and sustainability in the entire residential sector and fight energy poverty. “All this to respond to the climate emergency, reduce dependence on fossil fuels and move towards climate neutrality by 2050.”
Alfredo González has presented to the mayors, together with the Secretary General of Urban Agenda and Housing, David Lucas, and the President of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), Abel Caballero, the Program of rehabilitation and promotion of social and efficient housing, endowed with almost 5 billion of the Plan of Recovery, Transformation and Resilience (PRTR).
