The Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Service, Miquel Iceta, has met in the Senate with the president of the upper house, Pilar Llop. It is a first contact after his appointment as a minister.
In the meeting, both have pointed out the need to develop and deepen the State of the Autonomies, as a necessary starting point to move towards a more socially and territorially cohesive country. They have also stressed the need to revitalize the role of the Senate as a territorial chamber, strengthening its space for dialogue, coordination and collaboration between the different territories and administrations.
In this regard, the President of the Senate has offered to the Minister of Territorial Policy and Public Service that the National Commission of Local Administration be held in the Upper House. Minister Iceta has conveyed the invitation to the president of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces, Abel Caballero, and has promised that the next meeting will be held in the Senate.
