On November 30, 2023, the high-level conference was held in Brussels, where the 15 years of operation of the IMI system. This conference brought together representatives from the Commission and the Member States, as well as industry representatives, to celebrate the achievements and pay tribute to the people who run the IMI.

In addition, at that event the IMI’s 15-year reportwhich highlights how the system breaks down communication barriers between Member States, promotes seamless administrative cooperation and the exchange of information, thereby promoting the digital transition and creating a more interconnected and accessible single market for citizens and businesses.

“Confidence” was one of the most commonly used words throughout the day to describe IMI, and a key ingredient for IMI to work on the ground, every day. Different stakeholders, IMI users or the IMI Commission team highlighted the tool’s achievements and the key role the system has played in implementing some of the single market’s structuring policies, such as services and professional qualifications.

The Director-General of DG GROW, Kerstin Jorna, stressed that the spirit of cooperation with Member States is the catalyst that makes IMI possible and warned attendees to "fasten their belts", as much remains to be done.

Thanks to very interesting debates and fun activities, the event was a great success and an important opportunity to take stock of the past in order to prepare for the future.
