The Council of Ministers approves transfers worth 32 million to the Cabildo and the City Councils of El Paso and Tazacorte

The Council of Ministers today approved the application of the Contingency Fund in the amount of 32,064,728.57 euros to grant additional subsidies to the City of El Paso, the City of Tazacorte and the Island Council of La Palma, aimed at the repair and reconstruction of infrastructure, equipment and public facilities damaged by the volcanic eruption, according to the provisions of Royal Decree-Law 20/2021. With this new sum today, other activations already made of the contingency fund and the public infrastructure agreements affected signed in 2022, the State will have contributed a total of 85.64 million euros, compared to the 50% that corresponds to it, as agreed for the financing of these agreements.

For the Special Commissioner for the Reconstruction of La Palma, Héctor Izquierdo, this milestone represents a new step to ensure that the recovery of the island maintains its pace and that the administrations can complete the necessary actions to return to the citizens the services and public spaces affected. The agreement allows the adjustment of the aid to the evolution of the real costs of the works and to attend to actions that had not been initially included in the agreements signed in 2022. Specifically, with this new contribution from the Contingency Fund, the following are destined:

  • 759,923.08 euros to El Paso, to face the cost update of the Terrero de Lucha ‘Federico Simón’ and the San Nicolás Football Field
  • 999.179.63 euros to Tazacorte
  • 30.305.625.86 euros to the Cabildo.

Both in the case of Tazacorte and in the case of the Cabildo, these are investments for damaged infrastructures not included in the 2022 agreements.
