Héctor Izquierdo stressed that "the Government of Spain has demonstrated from day one a firm and unequivocal commitment to La Palma, mobilizing unprecedented resources and keeping open a permanent work agenda so that reconstruction reaches the end." In this regard, he stressed that the willingness expressed by Minister Ángel Víctor Torres to explore new financing channels to meet the demands of the primary sector shows that "the Executive does not terminate the reconstruction while there are pending needs and will continue to work, together with the other administrations, to find the best solutions".
The Commissioner recalled that the recovery of La Palma requires maintaining institutional cooperation and constant dialogue with the affected sectors, especially farmers, "who have demonstrated an enormous capacity for resistance." He also reaffirmed that the Government of Spain will continue to promote the necessary measures to consolidate the economic and social recovery of the island, with the objective of making the reconstruction complete, fair and lasting.
