The coladas of the volcano, left isolated estates, homes and tourist businesses. Currently, of the 42 actions planned in Tazacorte, eight of them are already completed, with which the Camino de La Veta-Los Palacios, El Corujo, La Bermeja-Los Burros, the repaving of Las Norias, the opening of the Taparratana Ravine and the area of San Isidro, where the banana crops can be seen very advanced, the first outbreaks of the banana plantations that, on the sorribada coladas, give their first fruits, the banana is responsible for a large percentage of local employment. “I can’t wait to come back here in a while and see everything green,” says Héctor Izquierdo during the visit.
The amount of the routes already executed exceeds one million euros, while the actions planned with funds from the Reconstruction in its entirety amount to almost 18 million euros. The planned interventions not only affect the original roads prior to the eruption, but also provide for the pipelines and the entire pre-existing hydraulic irrigation system to guarantee the water supply in Las Norias, Cabrejas and Corujo.
At the end of the volcanic emergency, 180 building permits were requested in Tazacorte, of which 93 are already granted, according to Mayor Manuel González Gómez.
The Special Commissioner for the Reconstruction of La Palma, Héctor Izquierdo, together with the mayor of the City Council of the Villa and Port of Tazacorte, Manuel González Gómez, have toured the infrastructures that are simultaneously under construction.
