There has been a meeting on the island of La Palma between the Special Commissioner for Reconstruction for the island of La Palma and the Secretary of State for Tourism; with the participation of representatives of the regional administration, the Cabildo, the affected municipalities, as well as business representatives of the island in the tourism sector.
The Secretary of State for Tourism, Rosa Ana Morillo, pointed out that "this natural disaster is an opportunity to rethink the future of La Palma with a tourist destination"
The Government of Spain, through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, is supporting from the first moment, proposing proposals to reactivate the economy of the island, giving rise to the Special Plan to Boost Tourism and Dynamization of SMEs (Plan Renace La Palma), which has involved a total investment of more than 27 million euros, of which almost 23 million are state, the rest is financed by the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands. "Of the 23 million invested by the State, 7 have been for Tourism" reported the Secretary of State.
