Miquel Iceta, Minister of Culture and Sport was in La Palma to know and promote the needs of the sector, such as the celebration of a world congress based on the meaning of what it is to live on volcanic land. The Minister held a meeting with representatives of culture, the Royal Cosmological Society and representatives of the two Canary Island universities, visited the viewpoint of Tacande, in El Paso, where he could see the cone of the volcano of Cumbre Vieja and the destruction caused by the 85 days of eruption, and the Silk Museum.
During his stay on the island he was accompanied by the Commissioner for the Reconstruction of La Palma, Héctor Izquierdo, and the Councilor for Culture and Heritage of the Cabildo, Jovita Monterrey.
The Mr. Iceta was able to check the consequences after a year after the eruption and thus see and channel the possible opportunities for heritage and landscape in the new environment.
