Urban space of Gernika-Lumo

On April 27, the Resolution of April 24, 2023, of the General Directorate of Democratic Memory, was published in the BOE, by which the Agreement 9-2023 was published, of opening a declaration of place of memory of the House of Boards of Gernika-Lumo. The initiation of this procedure entails the preventive annotation of the property in the Inventory of Places of Democratic Memory, in accordance with article 50.3 of Law 20/2022, of October 19, on Democratic Memory (LMD).

After receiving the allegations and reports provided for in that resolution, the Director General, dated July 28, 2023, has decided to accept those allegations, in order to expand the content of the official declaration of a place of democratic memory to the urban space of Gernika-Lumo, as a place where the bombing of 1937 took place and the facts of singular relevance for their historical, symbolic significance and their impact on collective memory; as well as for the deepening of democratic values that has been carried out in the city through a large number of memorial actions, both of the Basque administrations and of civil society, promoting human rights and coexistence.

In accordance with the provisions of articles 50.2 of the LMD and 82 and 83 of Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on the Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, it is mandatory to carry out public information processing.

Therefore, once the allegations made in the hearing procedure and the requested reports have been incorporated, this Directorate General provides for the opening of a period of public information for a period of 30 calendar days from the day following the publication of this agreement, so that all those who have an interest in the matter can examine the file and allege what they deem appropriate in order to that good. The request for consultation and the allegations can be presented in any of the Registries established in article 16.4 of Law 39/2015, of 1 October, on Common Administrative Procedure of Public Administrations, through the website of the Ministry of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory: www.mpr.gob.es in the next form.
