Act of State in memory and tribute to the Spanish exile

The First Vice-President of the Government and Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Carmen Calvo, will close the act of State in memory and tribute to the Spanish exile, which will be held next Saturday, May 8, at 12 noon.

The event that will take place at the Casa de América in Madrid, coinciding with the celebration on May 8 of the "Day of Remembrance and Tribute to the Victims of Exile as a result of the Civil War and the Dictatorship" and in which Carmen Calvo will be accompanied by the Secretary of State for Democratic Memory, Fernando Martínez and the Secretary of State of Global Spain, Manuel Muñiz.

In addition, representatives of the exiles and exiles will participate, as well as organizations that have helped the Spanish exile or work to keep alive the memory of the people who had to leave Spain as a result of the Civil War and the Dictatorship.

The historian Nicolás Sánchez Albornoz will speak on behalf of the exiles and exiles. Also taking the floor will be the president of the Amical of the former Spanish guerrillas in France, Henri Farreny; the president of the Association of August 24, Veronique Salou, representing the Spanish exile in Europe; the president of the Association of Descendants of Exile, Pilar Nova, and the president of the Spanish Athenaeum in Mexico, Ernesto Casanova. After this speech, a video will be screened with a message from Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, son of former president Lázaro Cárdenas and president of the official commission created by the Mexican Government on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Spanish exile. The event will be closed with the intervention of the first vice-president, Carmen Calvo.
