Cervantes Institute, Madrid
The First Vice-President of the Government and Minister of the Presidency, Relations with the Courts and Democratic Memory, Carmen Calvo, and the Director of the Cervantes Institute, Luis García Montero, will present on Thursday, October 29, the Galdose Days Historiar el futuro, a multidisciplinary program with which the Galdós Year ends and which includes the inauguration of the exhibition at the Cervantes Institute headquarters in Madrid. Galdós, memory and poetry, which can be visited until January 31, 2021. The vice-president will be accompanied by the Secretary of State for Democratic Memory, Fernando Martínez.
Carmen Calvo will make a tour of the exhibition, whose curator is Luis García Montero, and in which almost 120 pieces are exhibited, among manuscripts, first editions, periodicals and documents from various institutions and private collections of the creator of the famous National Episodes.
After the presentation at the headquarters of the Cervantes Institute, in which the vice-president of the Government and the director of the Cervantes Institute will speak, the conference will continue with the researcher Eusebio Fernández García, who will deliver the conference Tolerance as a democratic virtue.
In the afternoon, the historian José Álvarez Junco will talk about Galdós and Spanish nationalism , after which three of the great experts in the author of Fortunata and Jacinta, Yolanda Arencibia, Germán Gullón and Joseph-Carlos Mainer, will talk at the round table Sabios readers of Galdós.
