- The operation had begun in February 2024, with eight detainees, several searches and the arrest of the leader of the Trinitarian choir in Álava
The Civil Guard has carried out a police investigation in the towns of Vitoria-Gasteiz and Salvatierra, which has concluded with the arrest of three individuals for their alleged involvement in a crime of belonging to a criminal organization.
This action constitutes the final phase of an investigation initiated in February 2024 against the Trinitarian youth violent group in the province, whose first operational phase yielded a balance of 8 arrests and 5 house searches of the leaders and most prominent members of the block, in addition to the registration of a meeting place of the organization. Among those arrested was the chief leader of the province’s Trinitarian choir.
The delegate of the Government in the Basque Country, Marisol Garmendia, has shown her satisfaction for the success of the operation and the benefit that the dismantling of this dangerous criminal gang represents for the Alavese and Basque citizens. “The Civil Guard has carried out an important police operation in Álava that has culminated in the dismantling of the Trinitarians, one of the most dangerous youth gangs settled in Spain and also in the territory of Álava. We must congratulate the Civil Guard and highlight this operation that has lasted a year and that strengthens citizen security in Vitoria-Gasteiz and in the whole of the Alava territory,” he said.
This police operation has been carried out after the study of the evidence obtained from the aforementioned arrests last year, which has allowed to corroborate the belonging to this criminal organization of three other individuals, being detained and made available to the judiciary.
With these three arrests, the block that had been established in the province of Álava is completely dismantled.
The whole operation has been coordinated and directed by Examining Court No. 4 of Vitoria.
