The National Police in San Sebastián has proceeded, within the framework of Operation Santiago, to arrest three people who are accused of alleged crimes of drug trafficking and belonging to a criminal group.
The operation began in mid-October 2022, when investigators from the Drug and Organized Crime Unit of San Sebastián (UDYCO) learned that several individuals in the area were transporting significant quantities of narcotic substances from southern Spain to Gipuzkoa for later distribution.
After the necessary investigations, the agents found that these were three men who rented vehicles with which they traveled to Malaga to acquire hashish and return to Oiartzun to immediately supply the drug among small local vendors, which made it difficult to control and investigate.
In response to this and after gathering sufficient evidence, on March 29, the three persons under investigation were arrested and a search was carried out in the home of the leader and principal under investigation, with the collaboration of the Special Operations Group (GOE) and the Special Unit of Canine Guides of Bilbao.
As a result, 30 kilos of hashish and 33 grams of speed were seized and 1,250 euros were intervened, two precision scales, a cash counter, two geolocation devices, four mobile phones, a SIM card and three passports from the Kingdom of Morocco.
In addition, the three detainees, who turned out to be two Moroccans and one Spaniard aged between 30 and 32 years, were handed over to Examining Court No. 5 in San Sebastián, which ordered the immediate imprisonment of two of them and the establishment of precautionary measures for the other.
