The execution of these works, declared of general interest of the State, will guarantee the supply of 318,000 inhabitants of the municipalities of San Sebastián, Rentería, Tickets, Hernani, Lasarte, Oiartzun, Usurbil, Lezo, Umieta and Astigarraga.
The works consist of an intake work on the Urumea River next to the Lastaola Azud, which will provide the necessary flow to a new pumping station, located next to the old hydroelectric plant, from which the flow will be driven to the Drinking Water Treatment Station (ETAP) of Petritegi through a pipeline of 4,860 meters executed in ductile foundry of 1,100 mm section.
In short, the supply network of the Community of Aguas del Añarbe will be provided with an alternative supply that will allow to carry out the conservation and maintenance work of the current channel from the Añarbe reservoir to the ETAP of Petritegi, thereby correcting the current problems of significant flow losses and instability due to the passage of the years, also constituting a guarantee of supply in the event of any contingency.
The action will be cofinanced by 80% with Next Generation EU funds, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, under the agreement signed on August 25 between ACUAES and the public company Aguas del Añarbe-Añarbeko Urak for the execution, financing and exploitation of the works.
