The Council of Ministers today approved a Royal Decree that regulates the direct granting of subsidies to 12 Digital Innovation Centers within the Digital Innovation Hubs Support Program (PADIH) financed by the Next Generation funds within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan. The total amount of aid amounts to EUR 15 million.
For Minister Reyes Maroto, “the objective of the program is the creation in Spain of a network of European digital innovation centers to provide SMEs with the advanced digitization tools necessary to face the challenges arising from the digital transition. These programs will contribute to the digitalization of our SMEs, improving their competitiveness and contributing to the generation of employment, especially among young people and women.”
About Digital Innovation Centers
Digital innovation hubs (DIH) are conceived as “one-stop shops” through which to offer the information, services, and testing facilities that companies need to successfully address their digital transformation processes.
The Support Program for Digital Innovation Hubs (PADIH), promoted by the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism, is endowed with 37.59 million euros and is proposed within the framework of the Digital Europe Program, which foresees during its first year of operation the creation of an initial network of European Digital Innovation Hubs (EDIH).
The grant will be used to finance actions aimed at:
· Facilitate collaboration, the exchange of information and the provision of specialized and personalized services to support companies.
· Increase the participation of new companies or organizations in the EDIH and strengthen its visibility.
· The management of EDIH facilities, the organization of training programmes, workshops and conferences to promote knowledge exchange and networking, as well as transnational cooperation.
