- “At the moment we have investments in execution in Águilas worth 67 million euros,” he said.
November 6, 2025. The Government delegate today reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of Spain to the needs and strategic projects of Águilas, where he visited some of these actions and reviewed with the mayor of the town, Cristóbal Casado, all the issues of common interest that involve both administrations.
“As happens in the rest of the Region, the Government of Spain is making a historical investment in Águilas, and at this moment we have in execution investments that exceed 67 million euros and that include the new Marine Species Production Center, the works of the Hornillo pier, the tourism sustainability plans or the expansion of the desalination plant,” said Francisco Lucas during his visit to the restoration works of the Casa Ruano.
“This emblematic building in which we find ourselves is another example of the political impulse and financial commitment of the Government of Spain with Águilas, since we have invested 1.8 million euros in its recovery, and together with the 470,000 euros contributed by the city council, it will allow us to return it for use and enjoyment by the neighbors of Águilas”, added the government delegate.
During his institutional visit, Lucas visited the Company of the Civil Guard in Águilas, where he announced his reinforcement with 45 new agents, which will allow, as he said, to double the number of patrols.
Subsequently, the government delegate met with the Community of Irrigators of Águilas, whose members told them that, with this government, the water needed by our primary sector will never be lacking.
In this regard, he recalled that the CHS already tendered last July the tender for the drafting of the preliminary projects of two new desalination plants in Águilas and Torrevieja with a joint capacity of 150 hm3.
These works have a budget of 1,836,746.37 euros and the execution time of both lots is 12 months.
