May 7, 2025. The Government delegate has today assured that the VIOGEN system for the protection of victims of gender violence covers 82.5% of the regional population and 76.58% of our territory thanks to the incorporation of twenty-six municipalities, whose local police collaborate and share information and resources with the State Security Forces.
Mariola Guevara, accompanied by the mayor of Cartagena, Noelia Arroyo, the Colonel Chief of the 5th Zone, Francisco Pulido, and the Superior Chief of Police, Ignacio del Olmo, presided this morning the signing of the collaboration protocol with this city council, after which he pointed out that VIOGEN has been very effective in creating a network for the rapid, integral and effective monitoring and protection of women and children victims of gender violence. “This network includes the institutions responsible for providing assistance and security to victims, facilitating the transmission of information necessary to monitor protection measures, the situation of the victim and the circumstances of the aggressor,” he said.
“In addition, with the signing of this protocol we strengthen our ties to work and ensure the protection and security that all victims of gender violence deserve and, at the same time, we optimize material and human resources and guarantee compliance with the judicial measures imposed on the aggressors,” he said during his speech on a protocol that, in his opinion, is a very effective mechanism for the exchange of information and to strengthen collaboration and coordination between the three bodies.
“It is essential to provide effective protection for victims of gender violence, and with this protocol we carry out a comprehensive follow-up of cases and provide more resources and resources to the municipalities of the Region of Murcia and its local police, who currently manage 1,266 of the 5,505 active cases in follow-up that there are in the Region of Murcia,” explained Guevara, who added that, to date, there are 683 active cases of gender violence in Cartagena.
