April 11, 2025. The Provincial Traffic Headquarters foresees around 677,000 vehicle displacements on the roads of the Region of Murcia during the Easter holidays, so it will deploy a special control and surveillance device whose first phase begins 15 hours this afternoon and will last until 24 hours next Sunday, April 13.
“During this first phase there will be around 194,500 trips, and in the second phase, which will extend from Wednesday 16 to Monday 21 April, there will be 436,000 vehicle movements,” said Virginia Jerez, Provincial Traffic Chief, who has called for the prediction of drivers before starting the trip and for the need to carry out a technical review of the vehicle to avoid breakdowns that may produce risky situations on the road.
Jerez recalled that during the Holy Week of 2024 there were 21 accidents with victims on our roads, with the result of one deceased person and three serious injuries.
“We are going to ensure that there are no fatalities, and that is why the Traffic Group of the Civil Guard will deploy more than 200 agents, who will have the collaboration of the colleagues of the Traffic Management Center of the Levante,” added the Provincial Chief, who has been accompanied by Francisco Javier Utrabo, Chief Traffic Sector Commander of the Civil Guard of the Region of Murcia.
“During these days we will not only improve and increase the uniformed presence, but also the non-uniformed presence with the use of radars and many controls will be carried out on high-capacity roads and also on conventional roads to avoid those small displacements that people do not consider so dangerous and are usually trusted a little more,” explained Utrabo.
