Guevara highlights the capacity of the Recovery Plan to promote the rehabilitation of municipal public buildings and improve their energy efficiency

December 12, 2024. The Government delegate visited today the comprehensive rehabilitation works of the municipal sports center of Alcantarilla, financed with 2.9 million euros of funds from the Transformation and Resilience Recovery Plan of the Government of Spain through the Local PIREP, Program to Promote the Rehabilitation of Public Buildings.

Mariola Guevara, accompanied by the mayor of the town, Joaquín Buendía, has toured the facilities and highlighted the role of the PRTR as an essential tool to accelerate economic and social recovery. “This rehabilitation program has an important social dimension, since it strengthens and improves public services, since many of the buildings to be rehabilitated are destined for cultural, educational or sports use, as is the case of this installation.”

The delegate of the Government has indicated that this program pursues the sustainable rehabilitation of the institutional public park, with a comprehensive vision for all types of buildings for public use, and has highlighted the improvement in efficiency and sustainability of the sports center of Alcantarilla, which will allow an energy saving of 80% and reduce CO2 emissions to the atmosphere by 86%.

“In addition to the improvements in energy efficiency in the football field, the pavilion and the pool, there have been actions for the installation of elements that have improved accessibility, habitability and safety for users, so I believe that this is a space that has been ideal for the sports practice of all the neighbors of Alcantarilla who enjoy the sport,” added Guevara.

The mayor of Alcantarilla has highlighted the historical nature of the rehabilitated installation, its full occupation by users and has claimed the very important role of the municipalities in the management of these funds with which this intervention has been financed.

Finally, the Government delegate recalled that, through this same call, included in Investment 5 of Component 2 of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, the Government of Spain granted more than 18 million euros to rehabilitate public buildings in thirteen municipalities in the Region of Murcia.
