November 25, 2024. The delegate of the Government has highlighted today that, with the incorporation of Archena, there are already twenty-five municipalities incorporated into the VIOGEN System for the protection of victims of gender violence, covering 68.5% of the population and 73.3% of the regional territory.
Mariola Guevara, accompanied by the mayor of the town, Patricia Fernández, and the Colonel Chief of the 5th Zone, Francisco Pulido, presided over the signing of the protocol, after which she pointed out that VIOGEN has been very effective in creating a network for the rapid, integral and effective monitoring and protection of women and minors victims of gender violence in which the institutions responsible for providing assistance and security to the victims are integrated, facilitating the transmission of information necessary for the monitoring of protection measures, the situation of the victim and the circumstances of the aggressor.
“With the signing of this protocol, we strengthen our ties to work and guarantee the protection and security that all victims of gender violence deserve and, at the same time, we optimize material and human resources and guarantee compliance with the judicial measures imposed on the aggressors,” he said during his speech.
The government delegate has indicated that this protocol is a very effective mechanism for the exchange of information and for strengthening collaboration and coordination between the two bodies.
“It is essential to provide effective protection for victims of gender violence, and with this protocol we carry out a comprehensive follow-up of cases and provide more resources and resources to the municipalities of the Region and their local police, who currently manage 1,306 of the 5,757 active cases in follow-up that exist in the Region of Murcia,” explained Guevara, who added that in more than 50% of these cases, the victim has minors in his charge.
The mayor of Archena said that her city council is fully aware of gender violence and thanked the government delegate for her commitment to promote the accession of her municipality.
VIOGEN is a computer system that was launched by the Secretary of State for Security of the Ministry of the Interior on July 26, 2007, in compliance with the provisions of the L.O. 1/2004, on Comprehensive Protection Measures against Gender Violence, with the following objectives:
-To bring together the competent public institutions in the field of gender violence.
-Integrate the information of the cases.
-To monitor and protect the victims.
-Make a risk prediction.
- Take preventive measures in the event of incidents or events that may endanger the integrity of the victim.
