January 31, 2024. The Region of Murcia has already received 2,013 million euros from the Next Generation EU Funds, of which the Government of Spain has allocated 1,755 million for the deployment of investments of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, 947 million direct investment from the General Administration of the State to execute 11,670 projects, and 808 million through transfers in Sectorial Conference, agreements and direct concessions agreed with the autonomous government.
The rest, 258 million euros, belong to the OBJECTIVE-EU fund, designed to help the territories to strengthen the Welfare State, protect public services and reactivate the economy after the impact of the pandemic caused by COVID-19, as indicated by the Government delegate in the presentation of the socio-economic balance of the management of the Central Executive in our Autonomous Community in 2023.

This is a significant increase compared to last year, when AGE implemented 5,850 projects worth 329 million euros in direct investment. Thus, in 2023, the projects in execution have been increased to 11,670, which means 5,820 more projects and an increase of 618 million euros.
Likewise, the cumulative amount received by the Autonomous Community through transfers in the Sectorial Conference has gone from 648 million in 2022 to 808 million in 2023, 160 million euros more.
Mariola Guevara has explained or that there are very important investments underway in priority aspects for the Region, such as numerous actions in those processes that concern water management to guarantee the supply and safety of water while the effects of the drought are curbed. In this sense, he has highlighted the investment for the expansion and use of photovoltaic energy in the desalination plants of Águilas and Valdelentisco or the improvement and optimization of irrigation, with an investment of more than 50 million euros that will improve the efficiency and sustainability of the irrigation and that will cover 19,000 hectares of irrigation.
“We talk about very important investments that benefit almost all strata and socio-economic sectors, focused on projects and strategic needs of the Region, such as the development of infrastructure, especially the advance of the High Speed and the Mediterranean Corridor, or renewable energy projects for the strengthening of the value chain of renewable hydrogen, with 66 million euros of funding,” he said.
In addition, he mentioned the importance of these funds to give decisive support to sustainable mobility and the improvement of air quality in the municipalities, with the development of Low Emission Zones in Yecla, Torre-Pacheco, Murcia, Molina de Segura, Lorca, Cartagena and Águilas, with an investment of 54.3 million euros.

The delegate of the Government has said that this government manages the economy better “because we put it at the service of the people”, and in this sense has valued the increase of indefinite contracts up to 358,494, 286% more than in 2019, or the number of scholarships, which reached the last year the 33,280 beneficiaries, with a total amount of 73.6 million for students of the Region of Murcia. “In addition, we have 101,796 beneficiaries of the Minimum Vital Income, 63,968 of the electric social bond, 646,333 members of the Social Security, 71,468 more than in December 2018, and we have issued 29,130 free transport subscriptions and 50% AVANT.”
