- Caridad Rives has called all the heads of the agencies of the General Administration of the State in the Region and Security Forces and Corps to analyze the situation and coordinate actions
May 22, 2022. The government delegate has asked citizens to take extreme precautions against the storm and heavy rainfall warning issued today by the State Meteorological Agency for the coming days.
Rives has expressed the need to avoid road travel as much as possible and, if not, slow down and not stop in areas where a lot of water can flow.
“The alert issued this morning covers up to 0 hours on the 24th, affects almost the entire Region and warns of heavy storms and accumulated rainfall of 20 mm in an hour that could reach 60 in some areas of the Region, so it is important to keep timely informed, always in official sources, and avoid, if possible, displacements,” the delegate of the Government has requested.
Faced with this situation, Rives has convened this afternoon in the Government Delegation leaders and technicians of those State agencies responsible for coordinating possible actions, among them, the Hydrographic Confederation of Segura, the State Highway Demarcation, the territorial delegation of the State Meteorology Agency, the Provincial Traffic Headquarters and the Civil Protection unit of the Government Delegation. The meeting was also attended by National Police and Civil Guard commanders, including the chief commander of the Traffic sector.
During these days, the DGT will maintain updated information on the state of national and regional roads through its website www.infocar.dgt.es and will keep active the variable messaging panels with alerts and recommendations for drivers.
Rives has ensured that the State has all its human and material resources available for this exceptional situation and has ensured that they will maintain permanent coordination meetings until the rainfall alert expires.
“Since this morning we have warned all the agencies of the General Administration of the State, Security Bodies and Forces and essential services companies of the Region of the need to remain alert to the forecast of heavy rainfall during these days. In addition, we have participated in a coordination meeting with the Autonomous Community, with whom we are also in permanent contact, in which our head of AEMET, Juan Esteban Palenzuela has detailed the situation to all the participating administrations,” explained Rives.
RECOMMENDATIONS DRIVING IN RAIN
