The Public Service of State Employment (SEPE) in Melilla will arrive this year at an investment of more than 5.5 million euros in our city this year for the calls for professional training for employment and TandEM programs.
The Provincial Director of the SEPE in our city, Jorge Vera, announced it in an interview granted to RNE, in which he explained that a new call for vocational training programs for employment is going to be carried out, which has an allocation of around one and a half million euros, which raises the total investment in vocational training for employment to more than three million euros this year 2025.
Added to this figure are the TandEM programs, which also include training, reaching more than five and a half million euros aimed at improving the qualification of job seekers in the city.
“We are talking about a very significant public investment, which seeks to give real job opportunities to those who need it most,” said Vera, who recalled that this call combines traditional vocational training with TandEM programs, which offer training and recruitment at the same time.
The TandEM programs are aimed at groups with greater difficulties of access to employment, with two lines of action: one for children under 30 years of age, with a duration of 12 months, and another of a general nature, of six months. Both include a work contract with a gross salary of more than 1,700 euros per month and obtaining a certificate of professionalism.
More investment in training
In this edition, the SEPE has increased the allocation for these programmes, which went from 1.5 million euros last year to 2.4 million euros in 2025. In addition, Vera has advanced its intention to continue expanding it for 2026 “to bring it closer to the levels of an employment plan of the Autonomous City”.
Among the training courses offered, auxiliary operations of administrative services, socio-sanitary care, physical and sports animation, promotion and socio-educational intervention for people with disabilities, as well as workshops linked to the local heritage, such as textile arrangements and recovery of historical pieces and objects, stand out.
The Provincial Director has explained that the selection of participants is done voluntarily through a form available on the SEPE website, and that the registration period will remain open until October 15. The programs are expected to start at the end of this month or the beginning of November.
To this investment is added the new call for professional training for employment, endowed with 3 million euros —distributed in two calls of 1.5 million each—, which brings the total investment in active employment policies in Melilla to 5.5 million euros in 2025.
“These programs are among the most effective of our active policies. Not only do they offer training, but they open real doors to job insertion,” concluded Vera.
