The Social Centre of Seniors of the Imserso gave this lunchtime the starting signal to the Melilla Fair with the inauguration of the already traditional ‘Rincon de la Alegría’. The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, accompanied by the Territorial Director of the Imserso, Verónica Aznar, and the Director of the Center, Ramón Paqué, was in charge of the lighting that marks the beginning of a week full of festive atmosphere.
The head of the Government Delegation has valued this space, “which is nothing but a piece of Feria installed here every year, and which could not have a better name because it perfectly summarizes the spirit that is lived in the center the 365 of the year: joy”.
The Delegate thanked the Territorial Director and the Director of the Center for their work, as well as the efforts of the center team and the workers. “Thanks to his enthusiasm, this corner smells like Feria, vibrates with the Feria and makes everyone enjoy our patron saint’s parties.”
Moh has extended his gratitude to all the users who participate day by day in the activities that are organized in the Social Center and also to all the musical groups and shows that participate in this space and that do it in an altruistic way “to give, as the name of the house says, joy to this corner every day of this week, where all the activities will be intensely lived.”
“It is an honor and a pride for me to be able to participate and enjoy these activities, this effective environment and, above all, to be able to enjoy with all the users who participate here,” he acknowledged.
The Delegate, accompanied by Aznar and Paqué, has proceeded with the ‘lighting of lights’ with which they have given the starting signal to a week full of activities designed so that our elders can enjoy a wide program all oriented to the patron saint’s festivities of Melilla.
After the lighting, one of the users, Maruja, read an emotional proclamation, in which she highlighted the joy of these parties and the value of being able to share them in this space. After the proclamation, the Flamenco School offered a performance that encouraged the public with sevilanas, rumbas and other festive rhythms. With this start, the ‘Rincon de la Alegría’ becomes, once again, a meeting point during the whole week of the Feria.
A week full of activities
The Territorial Director of Imserso stressed that the Center already has more than 5,000 partners, “very participative” and that “they have contributed their ideas and needs for the Fair also live here.”
Aznar has detailed that, in addition to the traditional Mass Sprinkler, the Tombola del Cubo and the Miss and Mister contest, there will be daily musical performances and activities both in the center and in the fairground itself. “Our elders are not left out, they are part of the City Fair,” he said.
Aznar has congratulated all the partners of the center and has wished them a happy fair, a congratulation that has extended to all citizens. “Let us enjoy these beautiful days and share special moments,” he said.
For his part, the Director of the Center has thanked workers, Board of Government and users for their participation in the conception and realization of the program of activities that will be developed during all these days. He has also called on all Melillenses to participate with their families in this celebration, “the center is open to them, it is a place of meeting and celebration”.
