The Government Delegation in Melilla held an open day this Friday on the occasion of Open Administration Week 2025, a national initiative aimed at promoting the values of transparency, participation, accountability and collaboration between citizens and public institutions.
The activity has been aimed at students of Higher Degree of Administration and Finance, Computer Science and Laboratory cycles. More than 50 students have had the opportunity to know at first hand the operation of the different services provided by the General Administration of the State in Melilla.
The day began with the intervention of the Secretary General of the Government Delegation in Melilla, Sana Abdeslam, who gave a presentation on the competences and functions of the General State Administration through the Government Delegation, highlighting the importance of “a close, professional and public service oriented administration”, with the aim of inspiring vocations and attracting young talent towards public employment.
Next, a virtual guided visit to the Transparency Portal of the Government of Spain has been planned and the procedure for prior consultation in legislative procedures has been explained, encouraging students to become involved in public affairs through citizen participation.
Subsequently, the Head of the Coordination Unit Against Violence Against Women, Laura Segura, has offered an exhibition on the role of this unit in the protection of victims, especially in the digital context.
In addition, the main applications, resources and contact channels offered by the AGE have been presented, such as the 016 service, location bracelets or coordination with other administrations. The intervention has ended with the projection of an informative video.
After a break, the students have organized themselves into three rotating groups to be able to participate in all the practical workshops designed for the day:
- Health Area Workshop: with practical demonstrations of analytical identification of toxic substances and procedures for placement and removal of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Workshop of the Unit for Coordination against Violence against Women: focusing on a practical case for action in a possible case of gender violence, with special attention to the resources of the General Administration of the State.
- Digital Governance Workshop: a practical interactive activity to get acquainted with the use of e-government and digital channels of citizen care.
During the transition from one workshop to another, the groups have been making a tour of the different services of the Government Delegation —General Secretariat, General Registry, Office of Foreigners and Promotion Area—, which has allowed them to know the internal functioning of these areas.
This day has highlighted the role of the Government Delegation as a link between citizens and the General Administration of the State, underlining its commitment to training, transparency and the promotion of young talent.
