“It is important that the Civil Guard continue to illuminate the legacy that veterans have left so that all those who are active and all those who will join in the future have guidance to continue doing that important work.”
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, on the occasion of the act in recognition of the veterans of the Civil Guard that took place this morning in the Command of Melilla, has highlighted the work and values carried out by the professionals of the Benemérita, as well as the “loyalty, solidarity, empathy, and companionship” shown by the members of this Institution.
The event, which has served to open a space of coexistence and recreation for the veterans of the Civil Guard, adorned with historical images of the body in Melilla, as well as to inaugurate a plaque in the Plaza del Veterano in which article 22.3 of the Code of Conduct of the Benemérita that points out the “respect, recognition and consideration that these people deserve”, has had the presence of the maximum representative of the Government of Spain in our city, the Colonel of the Civil Guard, Jesús Rueda, and a large group of members of the Benemérita both in our active and reserve situation, in our city.
“I am delighted that events like today’s continue to be celebrated, especially in these special and significant days,” said Moh, referring to today’s celebration of the 181 years of the founding of the body. “It is a real pleasure for me to be able to share, today, this important day, this significant day and accompanied by this great family,” he acknowledged.
“The Civil Guard would not be 181 years old today without all the people who have been part of it throughout this history and, for that reason, it is a pride for me to be able to address these words of thanks and congratulations, but also of admiration,” he said.
“I admire the work you do, the work done by the people who preceded you and the work that I am convinced you will continue to do.”
Experience and loyalty
Therefore, he added, “the figure of the veteran is fundamental”, since, “although you are no longer in active service, you never cease to be part of that Civil Guard and, therefore, your experiences, your wisdom and, above all, that loyalty with which you have always served Spain, with which you have served Melilla, has permeated that history that you have written throughout all this time”.
Precisely for this reason, Moh has assured that “you will always have my recognition for it”. And that is that, it has valued the dedication of the Civil Guard, as well as the treatment that this institution gives to its veterans.
The Government Delegate, in her speech, also had words of thanks for the families of the civil guards. “They are many days of service, many days of delivery that go, many times, beyond the work entrusted to them and the family is a fundamental pillar in all the work you have developed throughout your professional stage.”
Finally, the head of the Delegation has had words of remembrance for all those killed in acts of service and has taken advantage of her address to congratulate the women and men of the Civil Guard, on the occasion of the 181 years of history of the body and to thank all of them for the work done ensuring the safety of all Melillenses and all Spaniards. “You will continue to count on this Delegate of the Government always and you will continue to have my deepest affection,” he concluded.
