“The Commercial Customs Office of Melilla is making the arrangements that are made elsewhere in the territory.” The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has pointed out that “there is an open way for the business sector to make use of it when it needs it, when it believes it is convenient, and that we are here to try to facilitate as much as possible all these issues”.
In fact, the highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city has reported that just yesterday an export took place and that on Monday an import of fish was carried out.
“The business sector is making use of commercial customs and we are already in a process of normalization, in the sense that they are the ones who are directly contacting customs and that they do not have to pass this procedure through the Government Delegation, unless there is a problem to which we have to respond and in which we can be collaborators,” he said.
Moh recalled that as a result of the opening of the commercial customs, meetings were held with businessmen to address issues that were given, such as certification, “that we have been there from the Government Delegation, through the different agencies, with the different ministerial departments and in coordination with Morocco, to obtain all the necessary documentation and that both imports and exports could be made”. “That is also our function, to be able to help or collaborate when we find any difficulty,” he said, although he made it clear that this is the first starting point from which “we can evolve and expand that horizon of both tariff code and merchandise...”
Local government bureaucracy
Asked about the complaints made by the people about the customs “bureaucracy”, the Government Delegate has asked the Executive of Imbroda to be more attentive than it is entitled “to be able to respond to the problems and also to the needs of the citizens”.
Thus, he recalled that we are still waiting for the first occupation license of the University Hospital of Melilla, management in which “they could speed up the bureaucracy”.
“The local president should also inform himself, since he is in the hands of his own government, how the situation is,” he said, since “an infrastructure of that caliber and those characteristics” is still waiting for the license of first occupation of the local government.
