The Provincial Director of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports (MEFPyD) in Melilla, Elena Fernández Treviño, together with members of the Educational Programs Unit (UPE) visited yesterday the Science Fair of the CEIP ‘Encarna León’, where students and their families were able to share and participate in the scientific learning that takes place these days.
“The learning based on scientific projects of this course, used as an active, participatory and cooperative methodology, shows a series of final products with their explanations through portfolios and evidence panels where we were able to observe all the tasks that have been carried out over these weeks,” explained the head of the Provincial Directorate of Education.
As he explained, learning in projects “is one of the most popular methodologies that is being implemented in primary and children’s centers and works to improve the teaching-learning process since it turns students into protagonists of their own learning”.
In addition, it improves motivation, autonomous learning, creativity, as well as the ability to integrate in real life the knowledge learned, has added and pointed out that it involves the entire educational center and its teams and teachers.
Fernández Treviño, on behalf of the Provincial Directorate of Melilla, congratulated the ‘Encarna León’ for the work done by this center as well as the other centers of the city that are based on project learning project, the management team, teachers and students, for the magnificent work done.
Continuing with the support of the Provincial Directorate to this project, its owner, Fernández Treviño, visited today three classrooms of the CEIP ‘Juan Caro’ and two of the CEIP ‘Mediterráneo’ that participate in this intercentre Scientific project.
