The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has highlighted the firm commitment of the Executive of Pedro Sánchez for Professional Training (FP) in our city. “Since 2018 we have been able to implement 29 training cycles in the city, an important figure resulting not only from the support of the Government of Spain but also from the work that has been done from the territory itself,” he said.
The head of the Government Delegation, in the inaugural ceremony of the XIV Educational Show of FP, which took place this afternoon at the Melilla Puerto Hotel, stressed that, during this time, it has always been demanded that the training offer be in accordance with what we really need in the city, something that has been done “and this is a work that must be valued”, she pointed out, so she pointed out that the best way to do it is this FP Show.
In her speech the highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city referred not only to the 29 training cycles that have been increased but also to the increase of 1,200 students more than that has meant. “An important fact because thanks to this training offer that we have, to the cycles that were already working and those that have been implemented, we have been able to reorient many of our students and it has meant that the dropout rate and the failure rate have dropped in our city,” he said.
With this act, this biannual show has been started with which for three days and under the title ‘Now we are dual, learn by working, study FP’, students and interested in the subject will be able to know the different professional families that are offered in the city through a sample of them and they will be able to listen to talks and presentations by experts, entrepreneurs and FP teachers.
Accessing the Labor Market
The Provincial Director of Education, Juan Ángel Berbel, in statements to the media, thanked the participation of all professional families, all the teaching teams that have intervened in the implementation of the sample and the students “main protagonist who will show us what the reality of everyday life is like in their respective professional cycles and families”.
“In the coming days, we will have round tables and panels where the issue of dual VET is addressed”, he said and said that tomorrow, there will be a table with the motto ‘Now we are Dual, implementation of Dual VET in Melilla’, which will be moderated by the director of the Integrated VET Center ‘Reina Victoria Eugenia’, Pedro Cortés. On Thursday afternoon, the turn will be César García, who is an expert consultant at Dualcon, collaborator of Caixabank Dualiza, with the title of ‘The new FP Dual, tool to create talent’.
“In each of these round tables there will be panels of experts where they tell us how the Dual VET is working, sometimes starting from previous experiences, who have participated in the private company and how the learning that they, in turn, acquired at the time, can be transferred with our students,” he said.
In Berbel’s words, the aim is to adapt to the needs of the labour market, to the supply and demand for qualifications that require flexible education and training opportunities for different types of employment and learning throughout the year.
“Throughout the day we are going to have, every morning, some sessions with students of Second of the Basic Degree, 4th of Secondary and 2nd of Baccalaureate, with the purpose of promoting, on the one hand, the training cycle of Basic Degree for those who do not obtain the degree in Compulsory Secondary Education and also for the fourth of the ESO that may have the option to go to Baccalaureate or to study an Average Degree, which is one of the most demanded cycles, and in 2nd of Baccalaureate the idea is also to promote the Higher Degree.”
In the afternoon, apart from the panels and round tables where the experience of Dual Vocational Training will be narrated, the students of the Middle Degree and Higher Degree Training Cycles will also attend, so that the exhibition is open to about 3,600 students and also to the general public.
“That’s the idea, to show, to demonstrate, to show and to pre-show. That is to say, that is the sample, the actions carried out by our students, which is the target profile, of how Vocational Training is being seen as a very realistic option, very plausible to access the labor market soon, with the new Vocational Training Law and the impulse given to digitalization, innovation, entrepreneurship and the implementation of entrepreneurship classrooms”, he stressed.
