The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has called on the Melillense citizens to surrender to the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) of Melilla in the eleventh edition of the Race ‘In March Against Cancer’ that is going to take place this Sunday, October 20.
“Making visible, sensitizing and raising awareness about this disease and about the importance of early diagnosis must be and is the commitment of administrations, health authorities, associations of the field and citizens in general,” he explained.
In the words of the highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city, to overwhelm the AECC and the XI Carrera, “is one more way to transfer the support of society to the entity, to the people who are facing this disease and to their families and loved ones.”
Moh has highlighted the importance of early diagnosis and screening programs in early treatment and the fight against cancer for its great potential to improve the health results of our population, and has valued the agreement that Ingesa and the City are going to carry out by which the Public Institute dependent on the Ministry of Health to screen for colon and breast cancer, cervical cancer and metabolopathies.
The head of the Government Delegation has highlighted the work carried out by the women and men of the AECC in terms of both dissemination and awareness in this area and has asked that everyone participate in the activities carried out by this entity.
This Sunday, in addition to two competitive tests, one for children under 1,000 meters and an absolute one, of 5 km, there will be a non-competitive march and, in addition, the melillenses can collaborate with a solidarity race through the web https://melillacrono.es/xi-carrera-contra-el-cancer-melilla/. The initiative will take place from 11.00 a.m. in the Plaza de España.
“Melilla is a city in solidarity and sensitive to this type of issues, so I am convinced that, one more year, this test that goes far beyond sports, is going to be a success,” she concluded.
