“If the Government Delegation had had something to do with the 5.5 million euros that Melilla has lost in employment, does anyone really believe that the People’s Party would have been silent for 10 months and that this issue would not have come up until Socialist Group Member Elena Fernández Treviño took it out in plenary? No one believes it.”
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, referred to the 5.5 million euros that Melilla has lost in terms of employment because the local government presided over by Imbroda missed the deadlines.
“If the Government Delegation had lost that 5.5 million on December 27, on December 28, the PP would have gone out in trouble to request resignations,” stressed the head of the Government Delegation, who pointed out that, precisely that is what the local Executive has to do, purge responsibilities and cease the person responsible, in reference to Councilor Miguel Marín.
In fact, Moh has explained that the local government has lost those 5.5 million euros because the contracting of the Employment Plan has started late. “The budget year ended on December 20, you only had to sign a single contract to start the Employment Plan” and not lose that money but “as you are thinking about other things, you did not do it”. “They started the Plan on December 27 and, therefore, the 2024 budget has been executed to carry out the 2023 Employment Plans. What the PP will have to ask is what are they going to do with the 2024 Employment Plans?” he said.
Sabrina Moh, in addition, has explained that the Government Delegation does not have any competence over the Employment Plans of the Autonomous City. “It is the central government that gives the money so that the Autonomous City can implement this Employment Plan, but the Government Delegation has absolutely nothing to do with it. Everything is coordinated through the SEPE and the Autonomous City,” he said.
More money than with PP
In her speech, the Delegate explained that since Pedro Sánchez’s arrival in La Moncloa, the budget allocation for the City’s Employment Plans has been increased. “The Government of the People’s Party was always expecting approximately 2.5 million euros and we have moved to more than 5 million euros. The budget for active employment policies with this government has doubled,” he said.
But, in addition, the Employment Plans that are carried out by the Government Delegation have also increased its budget from 7 to 11 million euros.
Therefore, “more than a waste of money, as they say, we have always been increasing.” “We have allocated a lot more money for these active employment policies since we came to the government than when the PP ruled.”
Total transparency
To questions from the press, the Government Delegate has referred to the accusations made by the Executive Imbroda about the identity of the people who were hired in the Delegation’s Employment Plan before the court ruling prevented the recruitment process from continuing.
“When accusations are made as serious as those that are being made, if there was any truth in the background of this whole issue, the steps that the People’s Party would have to follow are very simple. They would have to go to the courts and report it,” Moh said.
In this regard, he has made it clear that the Employment Plans of the Delegation “are made with total objectivity and with total transparency and that the people who have been hired have also previously passed a control of the territorial intervention of the Treasury”.
Precisely for this reason, he has insisted on “total peace of mind with each and every one of the people who have been hired, not only in this Employment Plan, but in all the others”.
For this reason, Moh has encouraged the People’s Party, if it has any doubts, “instead of continually attacking and sowing that doubt in the citizenry, to go to the Courts.” What’s more, “if among his macro-government, Mr. Imbroda doesn’t have anyone to take him, I volunteer to do so,” he said.
