The Minimum Vital Income (IMV) payroll in August reached 2,848 households in the autonomous city of Melilla in which 11,455 people live, according to data provided today by the Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration. The average amount of the benefit in Melilla is 582 euros per month per household and, overall, this month’s payroll has amounted to 1,898,669 euros.
In August, there are 594 more active benefits than there were a year ago in this same period, which means an increase of 26.35%. These households are home to 2,597 beneficiaries more than those registered in August 2023 (+29.3%).
In cumulative terms since June 2020, when this benefit was launched, in the midst of a pandemic, the IMV has reached 4,262 homes in Melilla and has protected the 17,021 people who are part of them. Where 8,510 are boys, girls and adolescents, 50% of the total.
Since the entry into force of this policy, Social Security has allocated 67.36 million euros to pay the payroll of the IMV benefits in Melilla.
The IMV is a benefit aimed at preventing the risk of poverty and social exclusion of people who live alone or are integrated into a coexistence unit and lack basic economic resources. In addition, one of its main objectives is to address child poverty.
