The Government Delegation has hosted a meeting of the Territorial Coordination Committee of Operation Strait Pass (OPE), with the presence and participation of the Director General of Civil Protection and Emergencies, Virginia Barcones Sanz.
Several issues related to 'Operation Return' have been addressed at this meeting, and a balance sheet has been presented. Likewise, the agents involved in our city have conveyed to the General Director of Civil Protection and Emergencies how the coordination between the different institutions and entities is being developed in Melilla.
Historical highs
Launched on June 13, the first phase of Operation Strait Pass 2024 has concluded with historic highs in the number of passengers and vehicles. During the departure phase of the OPE, a total of 160,499 passengers and 37,375 vehicles have landed in Melilla.
The return phase remains open, which will be closed on September 15, when this Operation Strait Pass 2024 will be concluded.
Operation Passage of the Strait 2024 includes a broad mechanism in which, in addition to the Ministry of the Interior, numerous government agencies are involved, such as State Ports and the General Directorate of the Merchant Navy, belonging to the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda; the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, as well as the government delegations and subdelegations where the ports of embarkation are located.

The Territorial Coordination Committee of the OPE is chaired by the highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city, Sabrina Moh, and has counted on the participation of the Territorial Coordinator and Head of the Civil Protection Unit of the Delegation of the Government, Mohamed Mohamed; and representatives of the Command of the Civil Guard; of the Superior Headquarters of the Police; of the Local Police; of the Port Authority of Melilla; of the Citizen Security Council; Maritime Captaincy; Maritime Station and the Balearic and Transfer companies. In addition, the Secretary General of the Government Delegation, Sana Abdeslam, has served as secretary of the Territorial Committee.
