The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has encouraged the citizens of Melilla to approach the Transfusion Center, which is located in the Health Center of the Central Zone, to donate blood to help maintain optimal reserve levels.
The head of the Government Delegation, who like the rest of her family has been a donor for years, approached the Transfusion Center last week to make a donation.
From the Ingesa, they have explained that, although the current levels are adequate, it is important that donations are produced, from all groups, throughout the year, with the objective of replenishing platelets and thus maintaining the appropriate storage levels that guarantee the supply to the Regional Hospital in the face of possible adverse situations.
Blood transfusions are necessary in many operations, treatment of diseases, accidents or even, deliveries. Thus, in the summer season it is an important time for blood donations to be carried out because, on the one hand, it is a time in which demand can increase, while donations tend to decrease due to the holiday transfer of many citizens outside Melilla.
Among the requirements to be donated is to be between 18 and 65 years old - extendable to medical criteria, weigh more than 50 kilos, not to be fasting or donate immediately after eating - with the digestion done -; and the frequency of donation is 4 times a year for men and 3 times a year for women.
Donations can be made at the Transfusion Center from Monday to Friday from 9:00 to 14:00 hours and the phones to receive information are 951 320 224 and 951 320 225.
