The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has announced that this Thursday will proceed to the reception of the work of the new University Hospital.
“The work is completely finished and the construction company will proceed to deliver it to the Ministry of Health”, explained the maximum representative of the Government of Spain in our city, which has advanced that the Director General of the Ingesa, Isabel Muñoz, will move to our city for the reception ceremony.
“Melilla will soon have in place a healthcare infrastructure at the forefront of the country, with a very important portfolio of services, which will prevent many people from having to travel to the peninsula to perform tests or receive treatments, and with the most modern equipment and equipment that currently exists in the market, such as the latest generation and totally pioneering MRI equipment or the Da Vinci Surgical System,” he said.
Moh stressed that the fact that this state-of-the-art equipment is going to be a demand for professionals to come and provide services to this city, to which must be added the fact that the health workforce of Melilla is going to be increased with 252 new personnel, which means an increase of 32% of the current organic workforce.
The head of the Government Delegation has made it clear that the implementation of this new hospital will represent a before and after in health care in Melilla and “will improve people’s lives, which is the most important thing for the Government of Spain”. “This is an infrastructure designed for all Melillense citizens, so that we can count on the health that we all deserve,” he said.
The University Hospital of Melilla is also a leader in sustainability since it has advances such as the use of solar energy for the hospital's energy supply, rainwater collection and sustainable insulation.
This infrastructure, which is received this week, is a modern building of 45,000 square meters of assistance area that will have 265 beds. For him, an investment of 73 million euros in construction and 16 million in equipment has been allocated. Adding up the investments prior to 2018, more than 100 million euros have been allocated for the development of this state-of-the-art hospital that, in addition, is equipped with the most modern technology.
