The Provincial Directorate of the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sports (MEFPyD) in Melilla, through the Educational Programs Unit (UPE), and the Food Bank have held a meeting to address the improvement in the detection and monitoring of potentially vulnerable families in an emergency situation in the educational centers of the city.
The Government Delegation has hosted this meeting between the Head of the UPE, Victoria Menchacatorre, the President of the Food Bank, Pedro Paredes, and heads of all the educational centers of the city and the Provincial Directorate of Education, to embroider a better collaboration for the optimization of resources and thus be able to provide better help to vulnerable families.
The Food Bank has extensive experience in caring for vulnerable families. In fact, since the Covid-19 pandemic, it activated a resource called an ‘emergency basket’ that gets them to families in need.
The objective of this meeting is to improve communication between public administration and social services with entities such as the Food Bank, so that, when the need is detected, the necessary tools are activated.
The highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city, Sabrina Moh, has thanked both Paredes and her team for the work they do in this entity, “always willing to help”, as well as the management teams and the entire cloister of the educational centers of the city for their total collaboration in this matter “despite the vortex of work that you have, in the day to day, in the centers”.
In addition, it has highlighted the importance of meetings like these to share experiences and improve how to channel the implementation of these resources to help families, when necessary.
