The Multipurpose Service Center for Elderly People of the Imserso in Melilla, popularly known as Senior Citizens’ Residence, has recovered the multisensory room.
It was announced by the Territorial Director of Imserso, Verónica Aznar, in an interview given to Popular Tv, in which she explained that it implies “a very important advance to work with people with Alzheimer’s or dementia”.
The head of the Imserso in our city has explained that it is one more step in the normalization and improvement of the dependencies after the halt that the pandemic represented. “The recovery of this room is a priority to give a higher quality to our residents and improve the services we provide,” he added.
Aznar has also referred to the various improvements that have been made in recent months such as the renovation of all the beds in the center, the implementation of a ceiling crane in each room, which facilitates the work of the center workers by reducing the necessary physical effort, or the provision of ergonomic armchairs.
“It is about providing the right tools to the professionals of the center and also improving the quality of the service we provide to our residents,” he said.
Better performance and more hours
Aznar has also referred to the Royal Decree approved in July of this year by the Government of Pedro Sánchez, which has regulated the benefits of the System for Autonomy and Attention to Dependency.
“Quality of life must also be given to people who want to stay at home and, in that sense, it has been much improved with the approved Royal Decree, since it substantially improves the service, by increasing the amount paid to the caregiver and doubling the number of hours of care for dependent people,” he said.
As explained by the Territorial Director of Imserso, grade I with a maximum of 20 hours has gone from 20 to 37 hours; grade II with a maximum of 21 to 45 hours has gone from 38 to 64 hours; and grade III has gone from 46 to 70 hours to 65 to 94 hours. “The economic benefits have been improved, increasing by 17.5%, and the intensities almost double in hours,” he said.
In addition, it has announced that work is being done on a new document for Home Help, given that the current service expires at the end of July 2024, which already includes the extension of hours and amounts, with the aim of “giving citizens a tool that improves their day to day”.
