The Multipurpose Service Center for Elderly People of the Imserso in Melilla, popularly known as the Senior Citizens’ Residence, this afternoon gave the starting signal to the Christmas program with the lighting of the Christmas lighting and a pastoral.
The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has valued the “endless activities” that have been organized for the next month and a half on the occasion of Christmas. “The Government is working to make the residences as similar as a home and shows that these are activities like the ones we carry out today,” he said.
“All the activities that are being developed are aimed at making the residents feel this center as their real home,” insisted the highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city.
For this reason, he has thanked all the staff, both the management team and all the professionals of the center, who have invested in the realization of this extensive program for the celebration of activities throughout the Christmas.
He has also had words of thanks for all the family members who are involved in all these activities because “being here, sharing this space with the residents and with the workers, contribute to promoting and enhancing the objective to which he initially alluded that is to continue building this home.”
He also thanked all the people, the entities, the associations and the musical groups, who, altruistically, wanted to collaborate with this center to be able to nourish it of various activities, shows, workshops, and musical performances, with which they have enriched the program “which has been prepared with so much affection and enthusiasm”, and which has been made “specially designed for our residents”.
Illusion, magic and family atmosphere
The Territorial Director of the Imserso, Verónica Aznar, has stressed that, with the lighting of the Multipurpose Center “we inaugurated practically a month and a half of activities full of illusion, magic and, above all, an endearing and familiar atmosphere”.
“We are full of activities every day,” he said, referring to a large program that has been prepared and that includes not only musical activities, but also the weekly screening of Christmas films, the holding of family meetings with special snacks… and all this involving family members and professionals as well as entities “without which no activities of this type could be developed either.”
Aznar has recognized the work of the professionals of the center, given that “this is another effort in the daily work of the different professionals and that effort is appreciated by seeing the results”, and has advanced that the center will pass the tuna, the Choir of the conservatory and the Choir of Enrique Soler, since “contact with children during the Christmas season is also very important”.
Participatory and active residence
The Director of the Center, Ibrahim Molina, stressed that this month and a half of activities will be carried out to “unite family and friends”, while pointing out that the nature of the main activities is intended to give projection to the residence, and “make it a participatory and active residence”.
Molina, who has shown her best wishes so that everyone can enjoy this month and a half in harmony, has also joined in thanking both the management team and the professionals who have been organizing the whole month and who have been concerned “with every detail”. “We try to ensure that there is no lack of detail to make the participation and enjoyment in these festivities as warm and beautiful as possible,” he said.
The Director pointed out that the center aims to organize the center “as a home”. Therefore, “we try to maintain and respect the activity of what a normal family would do at home,” he said. Thus, the center will carry out a wide variety of meals for Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dinners, which will have a special meal. And, on Three Kings Day, the Roscón de Reyes will be the star dish “as in any home in Spain”.
