The Melilla airport will soon extend its opening hours from 7.15 a.m. to 22.15 p.m., as announced by the Government Delegate, Sabrina Moh.
One measure, said the highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city, which will benefit the Melillense citizens and, in turn, “will open another window of opportunity to attract tourism”.
The head of the Government Delegation recalled that work has been done on this issue for a long time to respond to a historical demand from citizens and that, in fact, it was a measure that was very advanced in 2019 but that due to Covid-19 had to be postponed.
Moh recalled that due to the pandemic, the air connections between our city and the peninsula had to be closed for a period of time and, after its reopening, it has had to recover the frequency of flights and return to the normality of passenger flows so that companies could request AENA the relevant works for the possible extension of the airport hours.
Some works, he said, that are already very advanced so that the opening in a longer time of the Melilla airport “will be a reality in a very short time”, he said, and referred to the reports that are being made on human resources, feasibility, demand of the airlines…
