The Delegate of the Government, Sabrina Moh, has celebrated the new drop in unemployment experienced by both our city and the country as a whole and the good data of recruitment that are reflected in the increase of Social Security affiliates.
Thus, the highest representative of the Government of Spain in our city has referred to the data released today by the Ministries of Labour and Social Economy and of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration, according to which, Melilla closes June with 98 unemployed less (-1.27% compared to last month), which puts the number of unemployed at 7,609 in our city. That’s 2,719 fewer unemployed than when the PP ruled.
In the Nation as a whole, the data have also been very positive, given that in June unemployment has decreased by 50,268 people and has been at the lowest figure since 2008, with 2,688,842 unemployed.
“This is a new month in which we see a very positive evolution of employment,” said Moh, who said that thanks to the labor reform approved by the Government of Pedro Sánchez, quality and indefinite employment is being created.
In fact, in terms of contracts, 1,281 were materialized during the last month in our city, of which 539 have been indefinite, that is, 42%. “Indefinite hiring continues to consolidate,” said Moh, who recalled that until now, June was a bad month for employment due to the temporality of the summer campaigns.
More Social Security Affiliates
The Government Delegate has also highlighted the fact that, one more month, both Melilla and the country as a whole continue to increase the number of members of Social Security.
Thus, Melilla has 25,683 members of the Social Security, 78 more than last month and 935 more than a year ago. And as for the whole of Spain, the best first semester of the historical series has been closed with more than 448,000 affiliates, almost as many as in the whole year 2022, and this month it has been located at 20,869,940 affiliates.
Moh has reported that there are only three companies from Melilla that are in the Temporary Employment Regulation File (ERTE) and 6 affected workers.
In any case, he has acknowledged that “unemployment continues to be one of the main concerns in our city and in our country and the Government will continue to work to reduce unemployment and to ensure that citizens have decent, quality work and rights”.
