The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food recently opened the deadline for young people interested in training stays in agricultural and livestock farms within the Cultiva 2026 program to submit their application, through the ministry’s electronic headquarters. The deadline will be extended until the next 15th of September, inclusive. The stays will begin to develop from January 2027.
The catalogue of farms offered where training sessions can be carried out includes 16 to be carried out in the Community of Madrid, belonging to various types of agricultural production, to be carried out between January and July 2027. In addition, it contains a search engine that allows you to select the stays by territory, dates and agricultural production.
The costs of accommodation, maintenance and transport of young people during the duration of their participation are covered by the Cultiva programme, which this year has an initial budget allocation of 1.2 million euros, extendable. The young participants will also have compensation for replacement expenses for the care and management of their exploitation by a third person.
The hosting model farms are distributed throughout the autonomous communities, and stand out as referents from the point of view of innovation, productive means, business model and social, environmental and climatic characteristics.
The stays offered are organized by the collaborating entities of the program, which are the Agricultural Association of Young Farmers (Asaja), Association of Celtic Pig Breeders (Asoporcel), Cooperatives Agro-alimentarias de España, Coordinator of Farmers and Livestock Organizations (COAG), Fundación San Isidro Mico (FSIM), Union of Small Farmers and Livestock Farmers (UPA), and Union of Farmers and Livestock Unions (UDU).
Requirements
The training stays of the Cultiva program are available for all
Young agricultural professionals with farm holdings of up to 40 years and for those of 41 or more who have settled in the last five years. Young people can choose farms with productions that are the same or different from their own, regardless of the sector, and located anywhere in the national territory. If you have participated in the program in previous years, you cannot attend stays that you have already attended.

The pilot project started in 2020 with 13 participants in eight autonomous communities and participation has grown progressively in the following calls: 54 participants in 2021, 92 in 2022, 202 in 2023, another 202 in 2024 and 363 in 2026 - this year's programme is still in progress.
Priority for women
The presence of women among the participants has ranged between 18% and about 30% in the last calls. In the allocation of places, priority is given to women, along with the most recently incorporated young people and those who have not participated in previous editions.
In addition, the stay plans presented by the collaborating entities must guarantee the presence of farms led by women, a necessary requirement for them to be admitted.
