The workers of the Delegation of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, headed by the delegate of the Government in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín Aguirre, have observed a minute of silence to condemn the last feminicide confirmed for alleged gender violence in the Madrid district of Carabanchel.
This is a 52-year-old woman, allegedly killed by male violence on October 22, 2026. The victim had no daughters or minor children. There were no previous complaints of gender-based violence against the alleged aggressor. With the confirmation of this case, the number of women killed by gender violence amounts to 43 in 2026 and 1,384 since 2003, when these data began to be collected, figures that the Government of Spain’s delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has described as “unacceptable”.
For this reason, he has once again called for “maximum forcefulness, maximum commitment, united work on the part of all those who can fight, fight and eradicate male violence”, and has highlighted the “absolute commitment” on the part of the Government of Spain in the fight against male violence.
“The whole of society and, of course, the political leaders in the front line, we must do much more to make any woman who feels insecure, any person who understands that a woman is at risk, can ask for help and the resources of the system,” he added.
In the institutional statement, read by Francisco Martín himself, the methods of communication that victims have at their disposal have been recalled, such as telephone 016, online consultations through the email address 016-online@igualdad.gob.es, the WhatsApp channel in the number 600 000 016 and online chat, accessible from the website violenciagenero.igualdad.gob.es, which operate 24 hours a day, every day of the year.
On the other hand, it also recalls that in an emergency situation you can call 112 or the emergency telephones of the National Police (091) and of
the Civil Guard (062). In case it is not possible to make a call and in a situation of danger, you can use the ALERTCOPS application, from which an alert signal will be sent to the police with geolocation. These means of assistance can be activated by the victim and by anyone who knows or suspects a case of gender-based violence.
