● The region is down 1.39% and is among the communities with the highest unemployment drops
● Spain reached the lowest number of unemployed in a month of November since 2007, with notable improvements in women and young people
In November, the Community of Madrid registered a drop in unemployment of 1.39% compared to the previous month, which means 3,903 fewer unemployed people. Compared to November 2024, unemployment fell by 11,189 people, a reduction of 3.89%. With this data, Madrid is among the communities with the highest absolute decreases in unemployment in the month.
At the national level, the registered unemployment fell by 18,805 people and stood at 2,424,961, the lowest figure for a month of November since 2007. In the last twelve months, unemployment has fallen by 161,057 people, which means a year-on-year decrease of 6.23%. The decline extends to all economic sectors and also to the previous unemployed group, consolidating the reduction trend maintained during the year. In seasonally adjusted terms, the registered unemployment is reduced by 11,881 people, which confirms the good performance of the labour market during the year.
The territorial behavior reinforces this evolution, with decreases in unemployment in eleven autonomous communities and the greatest setbacks in Andalusia, the Community of Madrid and Catalonia. In the rest, the increases are moderate, headed by Illes Balears and Castilla y León. The sectoral evolution also maintains a favorable profile, with decreases in Services, Industry, Agriculture and Construction, in addition to the previous unemployed group.
Female and youth unemployment
Women’s unemployment is heading for further declines and remains at the lowest levels for a month of November since 2008, with 1,466,095 women registered across the country. In November alone, unemployment among women fell by 14,370 people. Youth unemployment also shows a very favorable evolution: the number of unemployed young people under 25 fell by 5,476 people to 188,322, the lowest level of the entire historical series in a month of November. These data are part of a general improvement in the labor market that has also allowed the total number of unemployed people to reach its lowest figure for a month of November since 2007.
