- The delegate of the Government of Spain in the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín has detailed the security device, for these two events (pregrapes and grapes).
- It did so this morning after an extraordinary meeting that had to be convened by the Delegation after last week it was not possible to design the specific device of the 30th and 31st in the ordinary meeting of the Christmas campaign, due to the lack of communication by the City Council of the events that it has planned.
The Government delegate to the Community of Madrid, Francisco Martín, has today presided over a new extraordinary meeting of security coordination for the events and celebrations of the end of the year (pregrapes and grapes). This meeting had to be convened by the Government Delegation after the impossibility of concretizing the device in the meeting last week due to the lack of information on the part of the City Council on the actions planned in the Plaza de la Puerta del Sol. Finally, these devices will be composed of around 500 police personnel on December 30 and 31.
This was possible after having received, yesterday, a communication from the Madrid City Council giving details about the planned events such as schedules or forums, although the meeting was attended by no representative of the city, despite having been convened by the Delegation. The same has not happened in the case of the Community of Madrid, which has had a representative at the meeting.
Francisco Martín wanted to insist on the need to work from the planning and pointed out that, although during this year progress has been made in early communications, “not enough has been done”, as this device has shown.
Specific device
The planned device will have similarities to that of previous years, in aspects such as the evacuation of the square at 21:00 hours and the establishment of filters and prefilters to be able to access again from 22:00 hours and until completing a capacity of 15,000 people, less than previous years due to the installation of the stage for the planned performance this year.
The Sol departs from Renfe and Metro stations will be closed from 6:00 p.m. and the Cerca trains will not stop at this station. Internal circulation through the Metro network will be allowed.
Also, after the communication received yesterday by the Community of Madrid of a musical performance scheduled for December 22 from the balcony of the Real Casa de Correos, and to avoid the improvisation situation last year before a simular event held in a surprise manner, the necessary measures have been addressed so that it runs safely for all attendees.
The meeting was attended by the Superior Chief of Police of Madrid, Javier Galván, and other heads of National Police, as well as representatives of the Community of Madrid, Municipal Police, SAMUR-Civil Protection, Firefighters, Regional Transport Consortium, Metro, EMT, Renfe and Adif.
